Dr. Richards is a Board Certified Doctoral-specialist dedicated to In Vitro Fertilization. He attended Brigham Young University where he graduated with honors and completed a doctoral degree in Reproductive Physiology at the University of Missouri at Columbia, Missouri. While there he was named outstanding researcher for his work in gamete (egg and sperm) physiology. In 1986 he then moved to Southern California where he was a fellow in Reproductive Medicine under Dr. Marrs at USC Medical School in Los Angeles. They later moved together to Cedars Sinai Medical Center (a UCLA affiliate). He received his board certification with the American Board of Bioanalysis as a High Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director. Dr. Richards is partners with Dr. Marrs at the Utah Fertility Partners in Pleasant Grove, Utah.
Together Dr. Richards and Dr. Marrs have produced thousands of babies with In Vitro Fertilization. Dr. Richards has published a number of scientific articles relating to IVF. His papers and presentations have described innovative and effective procedures for dramatically improving pregnancy rates in IVF. He is a member of the Reproductive Biology Professional Group where he has served in national leadership positions. He is also a member of Alpha (Embryologists International), Reproductive Laboratory Technology Professional Group and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. He served as one of the medical consultants for the movie "Junior" with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Devito.
Dr. Richard P. Marrs M.D. is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He attended medical school and completed postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas. Dr. Marrs completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Southern California. During his fellowship training, he acquired skills in cell culture; studied the ultrasound monitoring of follicle development; and developed ovarian stimulation protocols; all of which would play essential roles in establishing this country’s second In Vitro Fertilization program in 1981 where he initiated one of the worlds first IVF babies. He made medical history in 1986 with the first pregnancy from a thawed frozen embryo.

Dr. Marrs was founder and first President of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART). He was a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s Ethics Committee, which produced the first document in the United States on the ethical treatment of infertility using the reproductive technologies in the 1980's. Dr. Marrs has published over 300 scientific articles and book chapters on IVF and Reproductive Medicine, and has authored the popular "Dr. Marrs’ Fertility Book." He has received numerous honors and awards, including the first Career Achievement Award from the American Fertility Association. As one of the founders of modern fertility treatment, Dr. Marrs is considered to be one of Americas Leading Infertility Experts. He has dedicated his life’s work to helping couples fulfill their dreams of having a family.
Doctor Bronte Stone is the technical director of our IVF laboratory and of Reproductive Technology Laboratories, a licensed clinical laboratory and tissue bank serving more than 300 physicians in fertility-related specialties in California and throughout the country.
After obtaining his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in agriculture, and then a Ph.D. in Medicine, Dr.Bronte Stone joined California Fertility Partners in 1986 to establish its research and clinical laboratories. Dr. Stone is certified with the American Board of Bioanalysts as a director of laboratories performing high complexity clinical testing, and oversees a team of technicians and scientists who perform routine clinical testing as well as research in all elements of the assisted reproductive technologies.
Over the past thirty years, Dr. Stone has published extensively in scientific areas ranging from animal nutrition, genetics and reproduction, to the immunology, endocrinology and physiology of early pregnancy. Dr. Stone is actively involved in ongoing research projects and represents California Fertility Partners through publication and presentation of results at national and international meetings. He actively maintains many research interests, and is currently focused on early implantation and the impact of stimulatory drug regimen on pregnancy outcomes. Dr. Stone is committed to patient and physician education, and serves as a valuable resource for updates in this constantly evolving area of medicine. Dr. Stone and the talented IVF laboratory team take much pride in the growth of Reproductive Technology Laboratories as a sub-specialty referral center for other clinical laboratories, universities, and many fertility specialists nationwide.
